EMPIRE – Much as happened with Star Wars: The Force Awakens, stand-alone pic “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” is doing the release date hop, with the new movie now opening a day earlier in the UK.
The shift – Lucasfilm and Disney haven’t directly said why the change – brings the UK into the same realm as places such as Austria, Brazil and Colombia, though some European countries such as Belgium and Sweden will be headed to the galaxy far, far away even earlier, on 14 December. There’s a Brexit joke to be made here, but we shall sidestep it.
The US and other countries such as Canada and Spain will have to wait until the originally scheduled 16 December, while China won’t see the film until January.
“Rogue One”, which features Gareth Edwards in the director’s chair and the likes of Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Forest Whitaker, Donnie Yen and Alan Tudyk in the cast, will be with us on 15 December.
With the upcoming release of “Inferno” and the buzz from “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” getting ever louder, Felicity Jones is now on the front cover of The Hollywood Reporter. Thanks to Jess at Isla Fisher Web, scans from the magazine are now up in the gallery.
The third and final trailer for “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” was released online a few days ago, and you can watch it in full below.

The press tour for “Inferno” began this weekend, with Felicity Jones attending a press conference, two photocalls and the world premiere in Florence. Over 350 high-quality images from the events so far have been added to the gallery – big thanks to Tom Hanks Network for their donations.

Jackson for worldwide contribution to entertainment and Ricky Gervais for excellence in comedy. Ewan McGregor will be honored with the Britannia humanitarian award.

Jones is best known for her Oscar- and BAFTA-nominated starring role opposite Eddie Redmayne in James Marsh’s The Theory of Everything. She next stars in Gareth Edwards’ Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Ron Howard’s Inferno and J.A. Bayona’s A Monster Calls.
“Felicity Jones is one of the finest, most sought-after actors of her generation,” BAFTA Los Angeles chairman Kieran Breen said Thursday in a statement. “With Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Inferno and A Monster Calls, this year is set to be the one when Felicity’s remarkable talents reach a truly global audience.”
The Britannia Awards evening is BAFTA’s big night out in Hollywood. The ceremony, which will be hosted for the second year in a row by British comedian and actor Jack Whitehall and is being produced by Done + Dusted, serves to celebrate the long-standing collaboration between the British and American film industries. Proceeds from the event support BAFTA Los Angeles’ education, scholarship, community outreach and archival projects.
